No Phony Publishing

Catcher in the Rye was always one of my favorites. The randomness of Holden Caulfield’s experience and his love of literature and exploration spoke to me. So, when it came time to create a brand and website to practice web authoring, I decided to start being a phony.

For this website, I created a persona of a Holden Caulfield type character and created a business that he might have started. Lover of adventure and literature? Fed up with the status quo? Yearns for a sense of community? Boutique publishing house was the only thing that rang true. This website is the synthesis of all the skills I’ve developed. It involved web design, user-centered design, functional and purposeful written content, visuals and more.

I wrote biographies for authors that don’t exist and synopses for books that will never be written. I created mock book covers for the store page and chose images to reflect my desired brand identity.

This project was one of the very best I had the chance to complete. It was surprisingly fun to be given the reins of an entire brand, even if it was all phony.
